The Challenge
What was breaking
A used car dealership listed their inventory on third-party marketplaces (OLX, CarWale, etc.) but had no platform of their own. They needed an online catalog they could share directly with B2B buyers and individual customers without sending them to a marketplace where competitors' listings appeared alongside theirs.
The surface-level requirement sounded simple: a listing site for cars. But used car inventory management is surprisingly specific. Each vehicle has a unique combination of make, model, year, variant, fuel type, transmission, mileage, color, condition, service history, registration details, and price. Photos matter enormously — each listing needed multiple high-resolution images with proper organization. Inventory status tracked at all times — cars moved through available, reserved, under-inspection, sold, and in-transit states.
The critical requirement was shareability. The catalog was not just a public website for walk-in traffic. The dealer needed to generate shareable links for specific vehicles or filtered lists to send to B2B buyers via WhatsApp and email. A used car dealer sends fifty WhatsApp messages a day with vehicle listings — each one had to open directly to the right car, not a generic homepage.
The existing workflow was entirely manual. Car details were in notebooks. Photos were on phones. Listings were typed out each time for each inquiry. There was no centralized inventory view, no way to check if a car was still available without calling the lot, and no way to present a professional catalog to buyers.
